It is becoming more apparent that the Facebook application Fan Check is the talk of Facebook at the moment so we have set out to find out exactly what is going on...
About Fan Check:
Apparently upon adding Fan Check your Facebook account will be infected with a virus that will add all your friends, now
Mashable.com are providing some very good information on what not to do and it seems very logical.
Spammers could be doing this maliciously by claiming that Fan Check is holding a virus in return people are worried and searching Google for "Fan Check Virus" finding website's full of malware and adware this stands to reason as the the trends do prove that more and more people are searching for it (finding malicious website's).
We are with Mashable.com on this one and advise you Not to add this application and not to search for it within any search engines, it is more than likely that the fact that people are reporting that it has hacked account details and changed thier email addresses is that it is because they have visited a website outside Facebook, there is no proof that the Facebook application is adding the virus.

Today we launched our new Facebook application called "Status Joker", our app allows you to easily post your status updates straight to our website instantly without waiting for moderation.
The application is very new and although we have taken it out of developer mode, it still needs some work doing to it. For now it is just a Beta test to see how it goes and try to gain a little feedback so we can make some improvements.

Due to the popularity of Facebook it has become a hackers (and spammers) heaven, it is becoming more ad more common for people to have their accounts hacked.
Here are our top tips for dealing with a hacker:
- If your friends have had messages sent from your account then change your password immediately, if you cannot log in or change your password then contact Facebook.
- If someone has gained access to your account then don't think that it is Facebooks fault, ensure your email address is secure. I think that more often than not your email account may be compromised so change that password also.
- Don't add unknown friends ... as friends and don't click on links from people you do not trust. Messages such as "we have you on video" or "here is a picture of you" could lead to websites with complex scripting that can gather your email address and passwords right from your browser, (cookies, sessions).
- If using a shared computer, ensure that the computer does not save your user names (email) and password.
- Email your personal friends to let them know that your account has been compromised.
- Scan your PC for viruses and malware, these could be sending information to unknown people.

Status Updates dot info was not intended to be for Facebook updates but was initially created to show someone how to create a quotes website, after creating the script I decided that there was too much competition in the quotes niche so I went with Facebook updates.
Status Updates dot info now has exceeded my expectations in terms of traffic and popularity so I figured its about time I push things forward and compete for keywords in Google!
The Future
The future of status updates is looking good, I am looking at updating the website near the end of the year (after clearing a backlog of work!) adding even more features including Facebook Connect. I am also working on a few Facebook apps including a status update application so there is plenty to look forward to over the next few months.
